Jose Manuel Guerra

Jose Manuel Guerra was born in Manzanillo, Cuba, in 1957. At the age of nine years old he came to the United States. He is married to his wife Elizabeth with four boys all born in Miami. He has lived in the City of Sweetwater for fourteen years.

Commissioner Guerra is a graduate of South West Sr. High School since 1977. In 1980 he started working as an EMT for Medi-Car Ambulance. It was a good experience in helping people and knowing their needs. Then, in 1988, he decided to move in another direction and went to Freeway Towing where he has remained for fifteen years as a supervisor. This has been an experience as well in helping people, and working with the Police Department. The best challenge for him was helping people and cleaning up after Hurricane Andrew. Now he has decided to go in another direction and help the people of his City.
